Driving home from work and I pull up alongside a mid to late 2000’s Pontiac Grand Am. No big deal. Except for the four license plate readers attached to the back. See the still shot below:
Because I was driving I had no way to research the local non-emergency line. I followed them for a couple blocks and they made simple turns and only minor attempts to evade me. Anyways, I did finally call 911 (hands free) and discussed the situation. Dispatch was nice and explained that private companies can use them for commercial purposes and as a test-bed. Furthermore, they don’t get personal info. Dispatch took the plate info but I doubt anything came of it.
What would Oppo have done in this situation?

Dollars to donuts this is the scout car for a repo operation.

Apparently used by repossession companies, or some bullshit like that.

Very interesting, makes sense given who was driving and what I saw.

I honestly would outlaw that if I were in charge, kinda like “bounty hunters.”

I always wondered what those were once they started popping up. Thanks for spreading the word.
